Despite a slow
start, Faulk showed his fantasy worth in '97, and should
improve in '98 Marshall Faulk? For
years now FFL'ers, and football fans alike, have been
waiting to find out the answer. Is he really that good? Can
he produce as a fantasy player? My answer is simply, yes.
Despite his injury history, Faulk has lived life in the
cellar of the AFC East. His only shot at a good season was
the year of "Captain Comeback", Jim Harbaugh, and
unfortunately Faulk was injured most of the time. Last year,
despite a slow start, he showed, without the help of an
offensive line, that he is still a talent for both fans and
FFL'ers. Faulk gained 1525 total yards, caught 47 balls, and
got 8 TD's, all despite his team's dismal record. In case
your wondering, that's better than Eddie George, or Curtis
Martin. Your next question may be, is he a starter? My
answer again is yes. He's not Sanders, Davis or some of the
others, but he is definitely the 7th best back, and his
chances for a better '98 are greater than, say Dorsey
Levens. Do you think Levens (a free agent to start with) can
repeat with Edgar Bennett coming back? Do you still have
faith in Emmit? If not, Faulk is worthy of serious
consideration as a roster addition. Other questions to
consider, Do you think the Colts' line could get any worse?
If you watched them play, you must say no. This in itself
answers the questions about injuries, and no, I can't
guarantee a healthy '98, but he's as tough as it gets. Feel
free to go against me, but Marshall will be a dominant back
in '98, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to put him on
my roster. -"The
Champ" Mike
