Fantasy Football is a game between 2 or more people whereby points are accumulated weekly using the statistics of NFL players. The game is more competitive and interesting if there are 8 or more players in the league.
To begin a league, you must first decide what positions (Quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, fullbacks, tight ends, kickers, etc.) will be used for scoring. Then each FF leaguer must draft players from the NFL to fill each position stated above. Each FF leaguer gets one pick per draft round. You may also want to draft backup players (in case of injury, suspension, benching, or bye weeks) if there are enough quality players for everyone to recruit. You may want to set a limit on the number of rounds because a draft can be a lengthy process. Many leagues also set a salary cap to limit the number of high priced players one FF leaguer can recruit. The cap is based on the actual salaries of the NFL players.
With the teams in your league set, you can begin play with the start of the NFL season. Refer to the scoring methods to find out how to accumulate points. There are a couple of ways to decide a season champion:
1. Total Points Add up each players weekly
scores to make a season total. The highest season total
wins. 2. Weekly Wins If you have a relatively low(17
or lower) number of teams in your league, set up a schedule
to pit one FF leaguer's points against another's each week.
Try to have each team play every other team in the league at
least once during the season. The FF leaguer with the best
overall record at the end of the season wins the
championship. In the event of a tie, use total points to
decide the winner.
There are an infinite number of ways to play fantasy football because you and your colleagues can design the league at your discretion. There are also many large pay leagues you can join on the Internet.
